The Mexico Manufacturing Machine

If you move in the circles of economists, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, or really, any business savvy person paying attention, you’ve no doubt heard Mexico at the top of conversation as it relates to the economic shift that’s transpiring.

Manufacturing in Mexico is growing exponentially, particularly in the aerospace industry, as evidenced by a recent announcement that United Technologies Corporation, (UTC) will invest 300 million dollars at its Aerospace Systems division plant in Mexicali.

The leading international aerospace supplier, is putting the mega investment into its new composite bonding facility. This is the company’s second facility in Mexicali.  Aerospace Systems’ first Aerostructures facility, which opened in 2008 as Goodrich Aerospace de Mexico (GAM), builds components for multiple platforms and performs final assembly of the thrust reversers for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

A program of this magnitude will create hundreds of new jobs and continues to uphold the widely shared belief that Mexico’s economy, projected to be the world’s fifth largest by 2050, is well on its way!
